ACTING PATHWAY:

Creative Drama is an introductory theater course that provides students with a comprehensive exploration of theater arts. Throughout the course, students will examine voice, body, and movement, delve into the rich history of theater arts, and explore various aspects of theater production, including characterization, basic techniques such as blocking and Improv, scene work, critique, writing, stage combat, and tech theater design.


Through a diverse range of activities, students will discover their unique voice as an actor and creator, learn how to collaborate effectively with others and develop their skills in storytelling and dramatic interpretation. By participating in these activities, students will gain an understanding of the diverse skills and roles involved in theater production and discover their unique strengths as performers and creators. Intermediate Drama follows up on the foundational knowledge of Creative Drama and allows you to take your theater skills to the next level! You will develop your acting skills in voice, body, and movement, and learn how to create nuanced and complex characters on stage. You will engage with classical theater, discovering the techniques, styles, and themes that have defined this art form for centuries, and exploring how they can be applied to contemporary performance.


One of the highlights of this course is the opportunity to develop children's stories into short plays for the local elementary school. Working collaboratively, you will adapt stories for the stage, develop engaging characters, create compelling narratives, and stage dynamic performances that will inspire and entertain young audiences.



Advanced Drama is where you will take your acting skills to new heights! In this top-level course, you will demonstrate your artistic perception and creative expression, as well as deepen your understanding of the historical and cultural context of theater, its aesthetic values, and its connections to other art forms and your professional life.


The centerpiece of this course is the Advanced Drama Project, which provides you with the opportunity to showcase your skills in a professional, production-focused environment. Over the course of the project, you will work with your classmates to create a fully realized production, taking on roles in acting, directing, stage design, and production management.


This course moves at a fast and steady pace, therefore consistent attendance and self-motivation are essential! 

TECHNICAL PATHWAY:


Technical Theater is an introductory course designed for students who want to explore the world of technical theater and production. Through a series of theoretical assignments and practical projects, you will learn the skills necessary to support and assist in the production of main stage plays, from lighting and sound design to stagecraft and set construction.


In this course, you will begin by learning the basic principles of technical theater, including the tools and equipment used in theatrical production, as well as the key elements of stage design and construction. You will also explore the role of lighting and sound in creating mood and atmosphere on stage, and learn how to use industry-standard software to create designs and plot lighting cues.


Throughout the course, you will work collaboratively with your peers to assist in the production of a variety of main stage plays, ranging from plays and musicals to dance performances and multimedia installations. By the end of the course, you will have gained a solid foundation in technical theater, developed your skills as a designer and builder, and gained the confidence and expertise necessary to pursue your passions in this exciting field.

Advanced Technical Theater is a course designed for students who are passionate about technical theater and production design. In this course, you will take on the role of designer, responsible for all technical areas of our main stage productions, from lighting and sound to set and costume design.


Throughout the course, you will work closely with our production team, collaborating with directors, actors, and other designers to bring our productions to life. You will be responsible for developing and executing your designs, ensuring that they meet the artistic vision of the production and are executed to the highest standards of technical excellence.


In addition to hands-on design work, you will also engage with theoretical concepts in technical theater, exploring the history and theory of design, as well as the practical aspects of technical production, such as budgeting, scheduling, and project management. By the end of the course, you will have gained a comprehensive understanding of technical theater, developed your skills as a designer, and gained the experience and confidence necessary to pursue a career in this exciting and dynamic field.
